Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For investigation of auditory characteristics of congenital hearing-impaired listeners, sentence intelligibility of normal-hearing subjects was measured, in which Noise-Vocoded Speech Sound (NVSS) was filtered by a digital filter simulating the audiograms of the congenital hearing-impaired listeners. And, the measured intelligibility of the normal- hearing listeners was compared with sentence intelligibility of the congenital hearing-impaired listeners on regular (i.e. not simulated) NVSS measured. Results showed that no training effect was shown for both the normal-hearing and the hearing-impaired subjects, and that the sentence intelligibility of the congenital hearing-impaired subjects was greater than 87% and greater than that of the normal-hearing subjects. These results suggested that speech recognition ability using the amplitude envelope of speech signal for congenital hearing-impaired listener was higher than that for normal-hearing listener.
