Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We propose a method to reduce the psychological effect caused by transmission delay in audio communication. In audio communication with transmission delay, a user has to wait his or her partner's response for a longer time than in usual communication. The key of the proposed method is to override extra waiting by "pseudo response", a word like a response but that is independent for content of speech (e.g. 'uh'). An experiment was conducted to examine the effect of the proposed method. We used the change of the correct recognition rate of a voice recognition system in verbal conditioning as an index of the effects of the transmission delay and pseudo response. The results showed that a pseudo response reduces the psychological effect of transmission delay. |
