Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the society where ubiquitous information services will be provided, every terminal device will be always connected to networks and be used as an interface to access a huge amount of information. There, varieties of terminal devices, access networks, and contents will compose the system platform that will provide the optimal information to its users. Such varieties will, however, make the information system difficult to use. In order to address this problem, we have to develop the ubiquitous information interface seamlessly to connect information in the real world and digital information in order to realize the user interfaces that make everybody naturally use the optimal information. This paper discusses requirements for the input and output functions of the ubiquitous information interface and describes the ubiquitous information interface using t he recognition and understanding technologies of character and document media. This paper also introduces examples of the input and output information interface that were developed based on the technologies.
