Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | When we consider network and multimedia support for foreign language learning and education, such key words as CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning), WBT (Web-based Training), CBT (Computer-Based Testing), and CSCL (Computer Support for Collaborative Learning) will immediately come to mind. However, it is time for us to reconsider how recent research results and available linguistic resources in language engineering such as automated speech recognition, machine translation, text-summarization and text clustering might be applied or applicable in foreign language learning and education. In this panel discussion, four researchers in language engineering will present their respective research results and/or resources and two researchers in foreign language education will comment on those presentations. |
