Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have theoretically proposed a scheme of unidirectional optical amplifier excited by traveling electron beam. Our proposed optical amplifier is consisted of an optical waveguide and an electron gun. The optical beam propagates through the optical waveguide and partly penetrates into the surrounding vacuum region in the form of an evanescent wave. The electron beam propagates along the surface of the optical waveguide. Therefore, the optical beam can be amplified by receiving energy from the traveling electrons. Here, we report the experimental results on the observation of the optical amplification based on this principle in the situation in which light from a semiconductor laser is input to the optical waveguide.
