Abstract(in English) We have developed a 10-Gbps/port system LSI module with optical I/O interfaces in order to realize intra-cabinet interconnection or back plane interconnection with high throughput in routers, cross-connect systems, and super computers with Tbps-class throughput. This module consists of eight small assemblies of the optical I/O interfaces (PETIT:Photonic/Electronic Tied InTerface, 4x10 Gbps transmitter and receiver) and a CMOS system LSI chip on a 50 mm x 50 mm substrate of a EGA package. We have also developed a PETIT connector which can be connected to the optical I/O interface in the vertical direction of the substrate of the optical I/O interface. The optical I/O interface achieved 40-Gbps full duplex asynchronous operation and 30-m transmission by means of multi-mode fiber. The PETIT connector achieved a low connection loss. These results show the possibility of realizing intra-cabinet interconnection or back plane interconnection with high throughput.
