The characteristics of oscillation spectra in the erbium-doped fiber ring laser

Abstract(in English) The optical spectrum, beat spectrum, and spectral linewidth which are the continuous wave oscillation were measured to study the spectral characteristic in the Er-doped fiber ring laser (EDFRL). It was made clear that the optical output power was dependent on pumping power and the feedback ratio to the EDFRL and the oscillation wavelength was only dependent on the feedback ratio. And the mechanism of their dependences was revealed clearly by the theory which used the gain and absorption characteristics of the Er-doped fiber (EDF). Moreover, the EDFRL linewidth was compared with one of a semiconductor laser and discussed with the linewidth estimated from the theory of Schawlow-Townes.
