In-Service Upgrade Method Using ASE Dummy Lights

Abstract(in English) In-service upgrade can increase the transmission capacity without interruption for the service traffic. In order to achieve the in-service upgrade, the transmission performance of the service traffic should be kept constant. We proposed an in-service upgrade method utilizing a few number of ASE dummy lights and demonstrated the effectiveness of our method experimentally. As a result, we have confirmed that the change of the transmission performance of the existing channels is less than 0.2dB.
