Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Modulator-drivers often limit the transmission speed of ultra high-speed optical transmission systems. This paper describes the bandwidth enhancement method of high-speed optical transmitters employing external modulators. By using an modulation-band division multiplexing technique with a dual electrode Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM), the effective bandwidth of the transmitter can be enhanced. We simulate the transmission performance of the proposed method. We also compare the characteristics of conventional and proposed transmitter, experimentally.
