Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We report the first transpacific distance (9,000-km) transmission of 40-Gb/s-based dense-WDM signals. The key technologies of this success are a newly developed 195-μm^2-A_eff fiber and an inverse double-hybrid span configuration that composed of two pairs of negative and positive dispersion fibers in this order. These technologies could drastically reduce the signal power in all-Raman amplified transmission systems without sacrificing optical signal-to-noise ratio after transmission, resulting in the low fiber nonlinearity enough to reach 9,000km.
