Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) BPON (Broadband Passive Optical Network) system that uses wavelength division multiplexing techniques has been defined in ITU-T Recommendation G983.3. PDS (Passive Double Star) configuration is applied to this system, so that optical splitters play important role. However, both wavelength flattened characteristics and high branching uniformity have not been achieved at the same time. In this report, we propose a novel fused taper 1x4 coupler with wavelength flattened characteristics and excellent branching uniformity in wide wavelength range. 0.4 dB of branching uniformity has been achieved in wavelength range from 1200 nm to 1700 nm.
