Abstract(in English) We report on a Symmetric Mach-Zehnder (SMZ) type all-optical switch, its hybrid-integration, and all-optical signal processing using SMZ switches. The SMZ type all-optical switch achieves a low power operation by using the efficient nonlinearity in semiconductor optical amplifiers and ultra fast operation by the so-called differential phase modulation scheme. Thus, various ultra fast and low power all-optical processing experiments have been reported with SMZ switches. Here, ultra fast signal pulse demultiplexing, all-optical 3R (re-timing, re-shaping, re-amplification) signal pulse regeneration and ultra fast all-optical wavelength conversion are repoted, which are considered basic operations to realize various functions.
