Stability of silica-based PLC modules during outdoor exposure tests

Abstract(in English) We investigated stability of planar lightwave circuits (PLC) modules under outdoor environment. We experimented outdoor exposure tests on PLC modures. We tested 2x8 optical splitter and 2x2 w__-avelength ___-sensitive c__-oupler (WINC) with band pass filter. We tested at 3 fields with different climate conditions for 50 000 hours. All insertion loss changes of 2x8 splitter modules and 2x2 wine modules in 3 testing fields are less than 0.3 dB for 50 000 hours. All return loss of splitter modules and wine modules are more than 40 dB. From these results, we confirm PLC modules are stable in outdoor conditions for 5 years.
