Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is the cross-sectional imaging technique of biological tissue based on the low-coherence interferometry, and it can provides clear tomographic images of the spatial resolution of 10 to 20 μm along the depth of a few millimeter underneath skin tissue. OCT is an epoch-making diagnostic technique because it was applied for clinical diagnoses only several years after the proposal of OCT. In this paper, recent progress of OCT is described, and future prospect of the technical development is also presented toward further clinical applications.
