A Design and its Estimation of the new VCO Using Ring Oscillator

Abstract(in English) New voltage control oscillator (VCO) with simple circuit and wide tuning range applied by ring oscillator, with which oscillation frequency is decided by the time constant of CR, is proposed. In the conventional ring oscillator type VCO, each inverter stops operating to float from a power supply when control voltage becomes small. In order to solve it, proposed VCO is the configuration that varies output resistance of inverter with feedbacked loop by C. From simulation and measurement results, it is confirmed that proposed VCO has the variable range that is wider than the conventional VCO even at lower control voltage. Moreover, circuit configuration has been simplified.
