Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We developed a bi-directional single-fiber Gb/s optical transceiver for cost-effective broadband optical access networks. Using a super-high Δ (refractive-index difference) PLC for the WDM optical circuit and using an MU receptacle for the optical connector interface enabled us to make the optical transceiver as small as SFP package size. The optical crosstalk was suppressed by improving the optical coupling efficiencies of components in the optical circuit, while the electrical crosstalk was also suppressed by optimizing the LD-PD distance on the PLC and by optimizing wire lines and ground planes of the multilayer printed circuit board. The transceiver satisfied the requirements for Gb Ethernet.
