Abstract(in English) | We have developed the tunable dispersion slope compensator for 160 Gb/s optical fiber communications by using a chirped fiber grating and a divided thin-film heater. Quadratic temperature distributions were applied to the chirped fiber grating by the divided thin-film heater, and the dispersion slope of the chirped fiber grating has been controlled between -20ps/nm and +20ps/nm. We simulated the transmission properties by using the characteristics of the developed tunable dispersion slope compensator at 160 Gb/s, and confirmed that the dispersion slope of the transmission path was compensated for with conspicuous improvement in eye opening penalty. |
