Performance Evaluation of DS-CDMA Adaptive Narrowband Interference Canceller in a Rayleigh Fading Channel

Abstract(in English) Wideband DS-CDMA has been adopted for the 3^rd generation mobile communication system because it can accommodate multiple the transmission data with various rates from low speed to high speed (2Mbps), can mitigate the influence of multipath fading by Rake reception and can assign the same frequency band to all service area making soft hand-off possible. However, since many users are accommodated in the same wideband channel, all user's communication quality in the uplink (mobile to base) will be degraded simultaneously in the presence of large interference signals caused by other system. Therefore, interference canceller is an important technique to suppress these interference signals. In this paper, the interference canceller, that estimates the narrowband interference signals by the adaptive filter and subtracts the estimated interference from the received signal, is investigated. The optimum parameters of the adaptive filter and the performances of the interference canceller (convergence rate, convergence error and bit error rate) are theoretically analyzed and confirmed by computer simulation in a Rayleigh fading channel.
