Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Classical music has proved to be harmful to hearing. In this study the sound levels and attitudes of musicians in Finnish National Opera were determined. Sound level measurements showed that majority of the musicians were exposed to levels that exceed the national action level 85 dB (A). The questionnaire to investigate the attitudes indicated that though musicians are worried about their hearing, they seldom wear hearing protection. Based on the findings, a Hearing Conservation Program (HCP) was made. HCP emphasizes the importance of education and motivation of musicians.
