Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We mathematically justify the already proposed method for detecting and enhancing the target speech based on the modified cross correlation coefficient (MCC) and additionally propose a new method to estimate the direction of arrival (DOA) based on the MCC. In the mathematical justification, speech enhancement through gain control is formulated and show that while the correlation coefficient is the optimal gain in the sense of the minimum mean squared error in the presence of only uncorrelated noise, it becomes not optimal in the presence of directional noise. Hence, the weighted cross correlation coefficient based on the GCC is derived from the weighted mean squared error minimization in the presence of the directional noise. Additionally, the inter-channel power ratio is investigated to clear that as the power of the frequency components of the directional noise are larger, they are attenuated largely by weighting the power ratio to the components. Next, a new method to estimate the direction of arrival based on the MCC is proposed. Prior to the proposal, we investigate the relation between the spatial sensitivity of the MCC and the microphone arrangement to show the fact that the spatial sensitivity of the MCC can have the resolution not only for an azimuthal angle but for an angle of elevation in case where the microphones are arranged to have the front directions of those microphones not to belong to the identical plane. We carry out the computer simulation of the DOA estimation based on the MCC and show effectiveness of the proposed method.
