Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes an analysis of Japanese passives within the Generative Lexicon. Two questions are addressed concerning the exclusion of unaccusative verbs and the adversative interpretation of certain types of indirect passives. Proposals are made on the basis of Event Structure and Qualia Structure embedded in the GL model.
