Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A nervous system is complex. To understand how it works, we need to understand how neurons, the building blocks of the nervous system, work. Even, neurons are complex with complex morphology, various types of ion channels, receptors, cytoskeltons, and molecules related to intracellular signaling. Therefore a nervous system is extremely complex. To understand such complex systems, we need to 1) collect and integrate knowledge, 2) propose and test new hypotheses or ideas about the system, and 3) share knowledge and ideas. Neuroinformatics provides an infrastructure for to do so. Here we show how neuroinformatics would help neuroscience at the cellular level.
