Relaxation Processes of Image Restoration and Error-Correcting Codes

Abstract(in English) Statistical mechanics have been applied to the image restoration and error-correcting codes based on Bayes statistics. However, only static properties such as the existence and the quality of equilibrium solutions can be investigated in this approach. In this paper, dynamical process of the MCMC to get the solution based on the Bayes method is analized using the dynamical replica method. Relaxation dynamics is much faster at zero temperature than at the Nishimori temperature which minimizes the pixel-wise error rate in image restoration. Moreover, the optimal performance is given by early stopping in the relaxation process. It is also suggested that the similar behavior is observed in the decoding process.
