Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In general, wide-band wireless system in multipath propagation environment is subject to degradation of transmission quality due to frequency-selective fading. It is also already known that the use of directional antenna can improve the transmission quality. In this paper, we have evaluated the expansion of correlation bandwidth when ESPAR antenna is applied for multipath propagation environment. We employ ray-tracing method to compare ESPAR antenna to selection combining antennas. We assume that ESPAR antenna choose its reactance set from the several discrete values according to the reception power as cost function. We show that ESPAR antenna provides wider correlation bandwidth, shorter delay spread and larger reception power than those of the compared antennas. Especially the median of correlation bandwidth of 7-element ESPAR antenna is found to be 8 times larger. It is also shown that the correlation bandwidth of ESPAR antenna is wider as the number of element increases.
