Distributed ARQ using STBC for OFDM Ad-hoc Networks

Abstract(in English) In ad-hoc networks, terminals can autonomously construct and can maintain the network easily without any base stations. However, they have the problem that the routing is complicated because of the movement of terminals. In this paper, we propose a narrow area ad-hoc communication system without routing by retransmitting the error packets from the surrounding distributed terminals regarded as repeaters. In the proposed system, first the repeater terminals receive and detect the signals transmitted from the source terminal to the destination terminal even if these signals are not for their own terminals. When the destination terminal dose not receive the correct data, the source terminal and the repeater terminals transmit one of the branch data encoded with Space-Time Block Code. As a result, the destination terminal can obtain the diversity gain and can achieve the reliable communication. In the proposal system, in order to suppress the influence of transmitting timing offset among plural terminals, OFDM system is applied. In this paper, in order to confirm the effectiveness of the proposal system, we perform the computer simulation and evaluate BER, PER and throughput performance.
