Experimental Verification for ESPAR Antenna to Suppress Interference in 2.4 GHz Band Wireless LAN Transmission

Abstract(in English) Electronically steerable passive radiator (ESPAR) antenna can suppress interference by null-forming, however, its effect has been investigated only by computer simulation. In this paper, we show experimental verification for ESPAR antenna to suppress interference. We developed ESPAR antenna for 2.4 GHz band wireless LAN Transmission. Unlike digital array processing, real-time online processing is indispensable to RF-adaptive array processing because only array output after array processing is received in digital part. We developed real-time online processing system by using general purpose of instruments and its software applications. We used "IEEE802.11g QPSK (18Mbps)" for signal and "IEEE802.l1b CCK (11Mbps)" for interference. The result show that ESPAR antenna for a receiver make a deep null to interference and significantly improves bit-error rate performance by suppressing the interference.
