Abstract(in English) This paper investigates the effect of two-dimensional spreading in the time and frequency domains employing hybrid Automatic repeat request (ARQ) with packet combining in Variable Spreading Factor-Orthogonal Frequency and Code Division Multiplexing (VSF-OFCDM) broadband wireless access using the implemented transceivers. The experimental results elucidate that frequency domain spreading is still effective in increasing the throughput in a lower average received signal energy per symbol-to-background noise power spectrum density ratio (E_S/N_O) region, although the improvement due to the frequency domain spreading is reduced owing to a large time diversity gain from hybrid ARQ.
