Path Search Methods with Array Antenna and its Performance in W-CDMA Systems

Abstract(in English) We propose two types of path search methods applied to array antenna at W-CDMA base station, and show to compare the performance by simulations and experiment results. The BER performance and the path detection probability are shown only 1 antenna search, (1) Power Combining method, (2) Beam-forming method and (3) Beam-switching method in the 2 path fading (fD=80Hz) environment. Results in the 4 elements uniform linear array and 10ms averaging time path search, the improvement of the performance of the path detection probability from 1 antenna search method is 4.0dB using Power Combining method, 5.8dB using Beam-forming method and using Beam-switching method that if the angle spread between the paths ±3~4degrees. The improvement of the BER performance is also shown.
