Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a new structure of the Doherty amplifier by introducing digital signal processing which maintains high efficiency over the wide range of output power. The structure has two branches; one employs the class AB amplifier adjusted output power by drain DC bias as the carrier amplifier, and the other has two cascaded class B amplifiers as the peak amplifier. The controller using digital signal processing allocates the optimal input power for each branch to achieve both high linearity and high efficiency. Furthermore, installation of the power combiner that combines two amplifiers at 50Ω, improves the isolation between the branches, and it results in higher stability of circuit. The linearization by a model characterizing each PHEMT amplifier is introduced to each branches, and evaluates the output versus input characteristics by experiment and simulation. Simulation is carried out for the spectrum characteristics with OFDM modulated signal.
