Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents experimental results on adaptive antenna array beam forming (AAA-BF) receiver with simultaneous estimations of received timing and direction of arrival (DOA) of Rake-combining paths employing pilot channel-assisted two-dimensional power profile in the reverse link for CDMA broadband wireless access. Experimental results elucidated that the loss in the required average received signal energy per bit-to-background noise power spectrum density ratio (E_b/N_0) at the average packet error rate (PER) of 10^<-2> of the experimental results from those of simulation results were only 0.5 -1.0 dB both for the path-common receiver antenna-weight generation method based on the estimated average DOA of incoming paths and path-independent receiver antenna-weight generation method based on the DOA estimation of each path, irrespective of angle spread among paths, σ Furthermore, it was shown by the implemented AAA-BF receiver that in the multipath fading channel with up to 8 paths, the required average received E_b/N_0 using the path-common antenna weight generation method was increased according to the increase in σ value since the antenna gain toward the DOA of each path was reduced, and nevertheless, the increase in the antenna gain according to the number of antennas was achieved by using the path-independent antenna weight generation method regardless of σ value up to 20 degrees.
