Experiments on IP Packet Transmission Performance in Forward Link for VSF-OFCDM Broadband Wireless Access

Abstract(in English) This paper presents experimental results on IP packet throughput and delay performance between end-to-end terminals in the forward link using 100-MHz bandwidth for VSF-OFCDM (Variable Spreading Factor-Orthogonal Frequency and Code Division Multiplexing) broadband wireless access associated with hybrid ARQ with packet combining. Experimental results when 16QAM data modulation, turbo coding with the rate of 1/2, and Incremental redundancy were employed, the IP packet throughput of 100 Mbps was achieved at the average signal energy per symbol-to-background noise power spectrum density ratio (E_s/N_o) of 7.5 (8.0) dB in the multipath fading channels with L = 3(6) paths. Furthermore, It was elucidated that the maximum total time delay, including the delay caused by buffering in MAC (Medium Access Control) layer hybrid ARQ and reordering control, became approximately 80 (50) msec for L = 3(6)-path channels.
