The Performance of TDD-CDMA Pre-Rake System with Space-Time Transmit Diversity

Abstract(in English) Recently, there has been significant research and development efforts for 3rd Generation (3G) wireless and cellular mobile communication system. The Pre-Rake diversity technique for the downlink transmission in TDD-CDMA wireless systems has been shown to provide greater capacity and simpler receiver design at mobile receiver. Nevertheless, this technique is very affected by fast changing channel, since it relies on uplink channel measurements for the downlink transmission [1]. In this paper, we propose the Pre-Rake TDD-CDMA system with the Space-Time transmit diversity (STTD) technique. Our goal is that the Bit-Error-Rate (BER) performance difference between Rake STTD and Pre-Rake STTD is reduced in the fast fading channel compared to that between Rake and Pre-Rake. Also, our goal is to combine the advantage of Pre-Rake with the ability of STTD to reduce multiple access interference and increase diversity gain, thereby, improving the transmission quality and increaseing the system capacity. Computer simulation is carried out to evaluate the system performance, and the BER results are compared with Rake and Pre-Rake STTD system.
