Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, a correlation-based time-domain technique that uses two identical OFDM pilot symbols to estimate the frequency offset has been proposed. In this technique, the correlation value used for frequency offset estimation is calculated using all samples. However, since the absolute amplitude value of each sample varies in the OFDM pilot symbol, estimation accuracy also varies according to the samples used for correlation. It is considered that the correlation value calculated only using samples with a large absolute amplitude value provides high estimation accuracy. In this report, we propose a technique which selects samples with a large absolute amplitude value and estimates the frequency offset using the correlation value calculated using these selected samples. In the proposed technique, ranking of the absolute amplitude value of each sample is performed for every pilot symbols, and frequency offset is estimated using the samples judged that absolute amplitude value is large through two or more symbols. It is expected that the proposed technique can improve the estimation accuracy since impact of noise can be reduced by using the selected samples with a large absolute amplitude value. As a result, we show that the proposed technique can improve the estimation accuracy compared with the conventional technique.
