SINR Measurement for Access Control in W-CDMA Systems with Base Station Antenna Arrays

Abstract(in English) In W-CDMA systems with base station antenna arrays, it is important to get information of signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio(SINR) at the output of array for flexible access control. In this paper, we consider SINR measurement techniques, which measure SINR at the output of array using a request signal from new terminal. To achieve precise SINR measurement, we propose a compensation method for the SINR value considering the effect of array signal processing. In the simulation, we evaluated average output SINR and SINR measurement error for several beamforming methods. The numerical results show that chip-level weight computation for MMSE beamformer provides highest average output SINR and smallest SINR measurement error.
