Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents a closed-loop mode beam selection method in CDMA/FDD forward link. At the base station, the multiple beams are uniformly formed in a sector. The orthogonal symbols are used to distinguish each beam and are transmitted as the common pilot channels. The mobile station measures SIR of each beam and selects a beam that achieves the maximum SIR. Then the base station transmits the data symbols by using the selected beam in next slot. Simulation results show that the proposed method has a better performance than beamforming method using received uplink signals under large angular spread condition.
