Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) IEEE802.11a 5GHz wireless LAN systems are becoming popular as well as IEEE802.11b 2.4GHz ones. In addition, high rate wireless LANs as access communication schemes to wired networks show increasing interests recently. In this report, cell throughput of broadband wireless LANs, which employ CSMA/CA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance), is evaluated. First, an expanded criterion of the cell throughput evaluation of wireless LANs is described. Second, cell throughput of multi-rate systems, which employ conventional IEEE802.11a signal bandwidth, is evaluated. Last, cell throughput of broadband wireless LAN systems with CSMA/CA is also evaluated, considering influence of MAC layer. It is shown that broadband wireless LAN systems with CSMA/CA realize about 1.3 times higher cell throughput than conventional IEEE802.11a systems under multi-cell environments.
