Abstract(in English) This paper evaluates the bit error rate performance of synchronous and asynchronous optical CDMA systems with M-ary EWO-MPSC signaling. While EWO (Equal-Weight Orthogonal) signaling was proposed to eliminate dynamic estimation of receiver threshould, it was reported recently that the binary EWO signaling combined with MPSC (Modified Prime Sequence Code) can completely prevent errors caused by MUI (Multiple User Interference) in synchronous CDMA systems. In this paper, the M-ary EWO-MPSC signaling for 2 ≦ M ≦ p, p is the size of Galois Field on which the MPSC is based, is investigated. It is shown that the M-ary EWO-MPSC system is also error free for any number of simultaneous users when the system is synchronous and the receiver noise can be negligible. Furthermore, it is shown that the bit error rate performance of M-ary EWO-MPSC signaling is much better than that of the M-ary PPM (Pulse Position Modulation) signaling even in the asynchronous case.
