Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Applications for managing personal information have been developing in the Internet and mobile communications. Access control systems indispensable to those applications and need password authentications to protect users' right from the enemy. In 2000, M. Peyravian and N. Zunic have demonstrated a password authentication scheme, which uses one-way hash functions. However, those schemes are vulnerable to several attacks. Some study groups have discussed about them, and two improvements on Peyravian-Zunic's password authentication schemes are proposed. In those improved schemes, a server's public-key cryptosystem is used without a third party. This paper discusses security problems on those improved schemes.
