Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Encryption algorithm MISTY1 proposed by Matsui in 1996 in a symmetric block cipher with 64-bit block data and 128-bit secret key. Knudsen showed that 5-round Feistel type block cipher with bijective round function always has an impossible differential property. By using the property, Kuhn showed that 6-round MISTY1 without FL function can be attacked. Also, Kuhn insisted that 6-round MISTY1 including FL function cannot be attacked because it does not hold such property. In this paper, we show that the MISTY1 holds the 5-round impossible differential property by using an equivalent transformation for EL function. We propose a new attack of 6-round MISTY1 by using the equivalent transformation.
