Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In response to glucose, pancreatic β-cells in the islets of Langerhans secrete insulin. On the other hand, the membrane potential of β-cell shows characteristic wave form known as bursting. It is considered that insulin secretion is greatly related to the bursting of pancreatic β-cell. We study two kinds of Hodgkin-Huxley type models with or without intra-cellular calcium stores which show the same bursting in the single cells but have different features between them in the cluster of coupled cells. We analize the effect of intra-cellular calcium stores on the entire bursting (insulin secretion). Especially, we clarify the mechanism of the bursting in terms of singularly perturbed systems.
