Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Static var compensators (SVCs) with thyristor controlled reactor (TCR) are widely used in order to suppress voltage fluctuations and to improve voltage stability in electric power systems. Recently, unexpected sudden jumps or bifurcations of conduction angle to the change of firing angle in TCR-SVC were reported. This phenomenon is a kind of nonlinear phenomena caused by switching operation and called a switching time bifurcation. Authors showed the possibility of subharmonic oscillations accompanied by the bifurcations. This paper discusses the relation between the method of controlling firing angle and the occurrence of bifurcations or subharmonic oscillations based on numerical and theoretical results for the single-phase TCR-SVC circuit.
