Abstract(in English) Optical layer multicasting employing WDM point-to-multipoint transmission propose a scalability issue because the WDM lightpath is used. In this paper, in contrast to the conventional connection-oriented approach, we propose a novel packet based optical layer multicasting. Optical code (OC) label in the packet header combined with a multicast-capable OC-label packet switch enables ultrafast packet-based optical layer multicasting. This approach mitigates the scarcity of wavelength resources as well as wavelength routing complexity, thus solving the scalability issue of multicasting. The optical multicasting with OC-label switch is experimentally demonstrated.
