Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The optical wireless communications have attracted attention, because they allow high-speed transmission without electromagnetic interference. The optical wireless communications are constituted by simple and cheap units. Compared with the radio wireless systems, the optical wireless communications offers many advantages, such as a higher bit rate, an enormous unregulated bandwidth, a high security, and so on. Recently, a large-capacity transmission is required in the optical wireless communications as well. Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems have attracted much attention as a way of the high speed transmissionin in radio wireless communications. In this report, we propose optical wireless MIMO communications (OMIMO) to achieve a higher speed transmission with a compact transmitter and receiver. We analyze the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINK) and the bit error rate (BER) of the proposed OMIMO with a linear array and square array. We show that the proposed OMIMO with N transmit and M receive antennas can realize MIMO multiplexing and achieve a high speed transmission by setting the transmit optical antennas and the transmitter semiangle appropriately.
