Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Optical short pulses for wideband optical-communication and high resolution measurement systems are desired with functions of highly timing stability and the widely tunable repetition rate. Gain-switched laser diode(GS-LD) has potential as wide range tunable repetition rate pulse generator. We have developed the ultra low jitter GS-LD by using self pulse feedback circuit. The efficient conditions of feedback are made clear on experimentally. By using this compact function LD module, we successfully observed sub-picosecond low timing jitter at the wide modulation range between 1GHz and 7GHz. Pulse width was compressed to 6.4ps by using dispersion compression fiber.
