Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Suppression of signal degradation in Remotely-Pumped EDF/Distributed Raman Hybrid Amplifier Scheme with Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) is reported. Signal degradation due to cross gain modulation (XGM) caused by an OTDR pulse in distributed Raman amplifier (DRA) section and remotely-pumped EDF unit is analyzed theoretically. The required conditions for suppression of XGM in DRA section are derived. We propose the directional bypass configuration to realize OTDR measurement without XGM in EDF unit. Transmission experiments using the Remotely-Pumped EDF/Distributed Raman Hybrid Amplifier are demonstrated without transmission impairement induced by OTDR.
