Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Adiabatic soliton compression with a dispersion-decreasing fiber is useful for the generation of a ultrashort optical pulse train in the GHz region. As we increase the repetition rate up to 40 GHz, however, the stimulated Brillouin scattering inhibits stable pulse compression because the optical CW power of each longitudinal mode start to exceed the SBS threshold. In this paper, we describe in detail that the stimulated Brillouin scattering effect severely affects on soliton compression by increasing the repetition rate. Finally, we show that a 100 fs-40 GHz pulse train is generated successfully, in which the stimulated Brillouin scattering is suppressed by applying frequency modulation to the source to decrease the SBS gain. |
