Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a pre-processing (PP) of a received signal for Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA), in order to compensate intersymbol interference (ISI) in optical transmission systems. Polarization mode dispersion (PMD) causes ISI. Adaptive equalization is one of ISI compensation techniques. CMA forces the amplitude of equalizer's output to constant value and estimates tap coefficients for equalization without an assistance of a known data sequence. However, NRZ or RZ optical signals are unipolar waveform. Thus, CMA may not operate well in this condition. The proposed PP scheme converts NRZ or RZ unipolar waveform to polar waveform. Computer simulation confirms that the proposed pre-processing scheme has good convergence property without an assistance of a known data sequence.
