Electronic and Optical Dispersion Compensation from a Network Architectures Point of View

Abstract(in English) Optical dispersion compensation technology will be introduced with an emphasis on the strength in terms of compensation performance and applicability to bit-rates of 40Gbit/s and above. Electronic equalizers, if introduced for optical transmission systems, come with a comparably lower performance and at current are only applicable to bit-rates of up to 10Gbit/s. However electronics are attractive due to their potential to get integrated into receiver electronics and low cost.
