Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In a PON system, the OUT needs to acquire the serial number of each ONU when the ONU is activated. Serial number response signals from ONUs may collide with each other on the shared access line, when the OLT requests ONUs serial number. So it is necessary to prevent the collision for fast activation of ONUs. The Random Delay Method, Random Skip Method and Binary Tree Method have been proposed as methods of preventing the collision of serial number response signals. This paper presents the comparative evaluation of these conventional methods by means of numerical simulation, and shows that the Random Delay Method acquires serial numbers of all ONUs fastest. We propose Multiple Random Delay Method based on Random Delay Method and show the effectiveness of this method by the simulation.
