Abstract(in English) | Periodic channel optical waveguide is playing an important role in optical IC, and its analyses on the reflected power of the dominant guided mode have been tried. However, the wavelength characteristics usually indicate asymmetry, because the reflected power of radiation field of such a waveguide increases as the wavelength becomes shorter than the Bragg wavelength. Such a tendency is strong especially in the case of index-modulation type periodic waveguide. In this report, in order to suppress such a radiation field, a lamellar grating type periodic channel waveguide where its corrugate part faces to substrate is investigated in detail using Fourier series expansion method. As the results, it is confirmed that extreme suppression of the radiation field, and almost symmetric and flat wavelength characteristics are obtained. |
